Open BY Appt ONLY May 2024. No Appt Needed: June 2024

NO PETS PLEASE.

This is a working farm so there will be insects (ie bugs) around- both flying and crawling. There will be areas of uneven ground. It is HOT in Alabama. We recommend bringing a hat, sun screen, bug spray, and wearing flat, closed toe shoes. Feel free to bring your own clippers. We do have scissors available to use if you don’t bring your own.

There is a portaloo onsite when nature calls.- Spring and Summer

We also have a few picnic benches scattered throughout to bring a snack.

Directions:
Address: 141 Leisure Lane, Sterrett, AL. We are listed on google and apple maps as: Blue Rooster Farms - an Alabama Flower Farm

There is a blue street sign and it is a gravel driveway. There will be signs for parking. Please check before you come that you are coming to Leisure Lane in Sterrett and NOT Birmingham (There is a Leisure Lane in Bham too.)

How to get the most from your time at the farm:

When you arrive, There will be different container size options for you. It will be what you place your flowers in and take them home in. They will have water (with flower food) and a few pieces of greenery to get you started. Farmer Tip: A good rule of thumb for a balanced arrangement is 15%-25% greenery to flowers. This helps the flowers pop.

We have scissors and snips here for you to use but feel free to bring your own. Make sure you are getting long study stems and flowers. This helps make sure those coming after you have lots of choices too. It is best to cut where the flower branches.

Make sure you strip all of the leaves off the stem before you put them in the cup. Farmer Tip: The leaves cause bacteria to grow in the water which makes the flowers go bad faster and you have more room for flowers if you strip the leaves before they go in the cup!

Take your time and walk around to see which flowers you want. New flowers are blooming each week. When you are done please return our scissors or snips before you leave. Farmer Tip: Don’t over-stuff the cup. This can cause the stems and flowers to be crushed in transport and lead to decreased vase life.

Be sure to get a Bonus Blossoms loyalty card with extra flower food to take home too!

When you get home. Remember, fresh flowers drink LOTS of water so be sure you are checking the water level daily.

If you are going to put them in your own vase, be sure it is clean. (As in - you would drink from it - clean.)

Change the water every other day and give each of the stems a fresh cut. (a 1/4” to 1/2” cut is all you need.)

Display out of drafts and direct sunlight.
